Visa

Which visa you need

It depends on your passport. Either way, the hospital's invitation letter is the document that matters, and we get it for you once you choose a hospital.

e-Medical visa, online

For passport holders from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Mauritius, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Ghana and Cameroon.

  1. 1. Get the hospital's letter (we arrange it).
  2. 2. Apply at indianvisaonline.gov.in, between 120 and 4 days before you fly.
  3. 3. Up to two family members apply for e-Medical attendant visas linked to yours.

Medical visa from the Indian mission

For passport holders from Ethiopia, Nigeria and DR Congo, who can't use the e-Visa at the moment.

  1. 1. Get the hospital's letter (we arrange it).
  2. 2. Apply through the Indian High Commission, Embassy or its visa centre where you live.
  3. 3. Allow more time than the e-Visa. Family members apply for medical attendant visas at the same time.

Paying

How paying works

  • Prices are quoted in US dollars. You pay the hospital directly, usually by international bank transfer or card, and our fee separately.
  • Hospitals usually ask for a deposit on admission. Your written quote says how much and when.
  • Some employers and insurers in the region pay for treatment abroad if you get approval first. We can send them the hospital's written estimate and treatment plan.

Questions

Common questions

My country isn't on the e-Visa list. What do I do?

Patients from Nigeria, Ethiopia and DR Congo apply for a regular medical visa through the Indian High Commission or Embassy (or its visa centre). The hospital's invitation letter is the key document. Allow extra time, and start as soon as you have the letter.

Can a family member come with me?

Yes. Up to two family members can travel with you on medical attendant visas linked to yours. Many patients from Africa bring one person; we plan the stay for both of you.

Can you help if I've already been told I need surgery?

Yes. Send us your reports and the diagnosis you've been given. A specialist at an accredited hospital reviews them and gives a written opinion and a price before you decide anything.

Do I need to speak English?

It helps, but it isn't required. Large Delhi hospitals have interpreters for French and several other languages at their international desks. Tell us what you need and we'll ask for one to be at your appointments.
